When Heather Samis moves in next door, she and Tanner Wolfe quickly become best
friends. They help each other through high school and college, date other

I appreciated Heather's journey of discovery. Many people go through periods of questioning in their lives. Having to make a choice between two good things is a dilemma many people face. I enjoyed the emphasis on families and the resolution at the end of the novel that left the reader feeling at peace with Heather's decisions and the impact they would have on her future.

Some time ago, someone asked if it was possible for an active LDS person to
really succeed in an artistic career. Being a writer who is actively LDS and a
mother of six children, I have faced my own challenges in this area. I believe
my gender complicates the issue considerably. When Dad is gone from the home,
Mom fills in. But who can take her place when her mind is elsewhere? Thus began
the seed of this novel.
The main character, Heather, is an artist who has seen her mother give up a
promising artistic talent to raise ten children and serve in the Church. She is
determined she will not sacrifice her own talent in the same manner. Driven by
this fear, she begins to view her religion and her culture in a completely new
light and her testimony is seriously shaken. When love presents itself, she must
search for her own truth to make a decision she will have to live with for the
rest of her life.
